Skypool to be used at the World University Games in Taipei
Through its engineering division, Fluidra Engineering Services, Fluidra has been entrusted with designing, supplying and installing the Olympic competition pool and the training pool for the 29th Summer Universiade, the World University Games to be held in Taipei.
The pools for the event, which will be held from 19 to 30 August 2017, have been commissioned by Taipei City Government. It is committed to the most advanced solutions, specifically in terms of construction and water treatment. The floating Skypool system fulfils this remit as it enables a temporary pool to be built without affecting a sports pavilion's flooring because it does not have to be anchored to the ground. In addition, the compact Nefrona water treatment system has been specially designed for provisional swimming competition facilities and has already been used in other championships.
Once the 29th Summer Universiade is over, the pools will be moved from the Multipurpose Gymnasium at the National Taiwan Sport University to its definitive location in south Taiwan.
Skypool system

Skypool is a construction system comprising hot-dip galvanised steel panels coated with a PVC-P membrane. Highly resistant to abrasion and corrosion, the panels adapt to any existing infrastructure such as sports stadiums and arenas, or any other venue where an event may be held.
The floating model has been chosen for the World University Games. The panels are assembled on frames joined by a lengthwise beam. In order to withstand the water pressure, the frames facing each other on opposite ends of a pool are joined together using steel cables arranged lengthwise and crosswise under the plates on the pool floor. As the pool shell fills with water, the cables become taught to counteract the force exerted by the mass of water on the pool structure. Using this system, the original flooring remains totally protected.
Compact Nefrona water treatment system

The use of the Nefrona monobloc ensures a high level of disinfection and filtration in order to obtain high quality water. Nefrona is a compact, transportable modular filtration unit. It stands on a hot-dip galvanised steel bedplate to prevent corrosion. All of the unit's components come completely assembled and ready for use. Only the water inlets and outlets, and the power supply need to be connected.
Its size enables it to be shipped easily in standard containers, and it can be disassembled into different blocks. Thanks to it modular structure, Nefrona can be installed in areas with limited access (minimum space of 1.70 x 2.20 m in height required).

Fluidra Factory Tours: more than 500 customers visited Fluidra’s facilities in 2016
With the goal of seeing the production process and learning more about Fluidra’s products, over 500 customers visited a number of the company’s production centres and a selection of its emblematic facilities in 2016.
The factory tours are organised by Fluidra’s Marketing Department and supported by the technical departments in each group company.
The tours involve groups of between five and 20 people visiting some of Fluidra’s factories so that they can see first-hand the production processes at some of the group’s companies: Poltank, the filtration specialist; Sacopa, the company focused on injection-moulded and lighting materials; Metalast, a centre of excellence in pumps and stainless steel; and, lastly, Cepex, the leader in fluid handling. The tours are complemented with training activities for visitors to find out more about the advantages about our products, which they can also see up and running at cutting-edge facilities such as the High Performance Sports Centre for elite athletes in Sant Cugat and the Caldea–Inúu wellness centre in Andorra.

The outcome has been very positive. Álvaro Cañada, Product Manager of Commercial pools & Wellness, explained to us that “we have the privilege of having our production plants in the country, close to our customers. The Fluidra Factory Tours are one of the best ways of showing our customers our production processes, including our exhaustive quality controls, and our wide range of products”.
2016 was the third year running of this initiative, which so far has received visits from more than 1,000 professionals from 20 different countries.

Fluidra completes Likids, the first kids' spa in Andorra
Fluidra Engineering, Fluidra's engineering division specialised in complete aquatic installations, was entrusted with the design and execution of Likids, a new spa facility at the Caldea spa resort devoted to children.
The innovative space, which forms part of the Caldea spa resort in Escaldes-Engordany (Andorra), has 400 m2 so that boys and girls between the ages of 3 and 8 can enjoy their first wellness experience in a spa.
Fluidra used a number of added-value products from its portfolio for the facility: massage nozzles, water cannons, jets, water beds and a pump room by AstralPool. The tiling was supplied by Togama and the lighting by Ignialight.
Likids is a magical play area where kids can enjoy an original pool with water features, a hydromassage spa, a multimedia room in the shape of a sauna where they can have a full audiovisual experience, and a massage room. Likids enables boys and girls to have a good time interacting with the water, whilst encouraging them to play creative games, and making them feel calm and relaxed.
Ignacio Elburgo, general manager of Fluidra Engineering, had no hesitation in saying that "Likids is a unique project, a step forward in the development of the leisure and wellness industry”.
